Wiring of 10-channel distribution box

A 10-channel distribution box is wired by connecting the main supply to a main MCB, routing through an RCCB for protection, and distributing power to 10 output MCBs with proper neutral and earth connections.

Components Overview

A typical 10-channel distribution box includes: Main MCB (Double Pole): Acts as the main switch and overcurrent protection. Usually rated 63A for domestic single-phase supply.

RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Provides protection against leakage currents, electric shock, and insulation faults. Commonly rated 30mA for domestic use.

Output MC

Bs (Single Pole or Double Pole): Protect individual circuits connected to lights, sockets, or appliances. Neutral Link: Distributes neutral to all output circuits. Earth Link: Connects all protective earth wires to ensure safety.

Wiring Sequence

Incoming Supply: Connect the phase (live) and neutral from the energy meter to the main MCB.

Main MCB to RCC

B: Connect the output of the main MCB to the input terminals of the RCCB. This ensures that all downstream circuits are protected against leakage currents.

RCCB to Output MC

Bs: Connect the output terminals of the RCCB to the input terminals of the 10 output MCBs.

Each MC

B will control a separate circuit. Neutral Connections: Connect the neutral output from the RCCB to the neutral link bar, then connect each output MCB's neutral wire to this bar. Earth Connections: Connect the incoming earth wire to the earth link bar, and then connect all circuit earth wires to this bar.

Labeling: Clearly label each MCB according to the circuit it controls for easy identification and maintenance.

Safety Considerations

Ensure the main supply is switched off before starting any wiring. Use properly rated wires for each circuit according to load requirements. Maintain correct polarity: phase to MCB, neutral to neutral link, and earth to earth link.

Verify all connections are tight and secure to prevent overheating or arcing.

Test the RCCB and MC

Bs after wiring to ensure proper operation. Notes for 10-Channel SetupA 10-channel box allows for 10 separate circuits, which can include lighting, sockets, kitchen appliances, and other loads. For special high-power loads, consider using double-pole MCBs for individual circuits.

Standard single-phase domestic supply in most countries is 230V AC, so all devices should be rated accordingly. By following this sequence, a 10-channel distribution box can be safely and efficiently wired, providing reliable protection and distribution for all connected circuits.
