Prepared for preliminary research by the ENSAA knowledge desk. Confirm optical interfaces, port or core capacity, electrical input and output, enclosure protection, thermal design and installation limits against current standards and product documentation.

The "No distribution box installed" message in WSL means that Windows Subsystem for Linux is enabled but no Linux distributions are installed or detected.

Understanding the Issue

This error occurs when WSL is active on your Windows system, but there are no Linux distributions installed, or an existing installation is corrupted or unregistered. Common causes include: WSL was enabled but no distribution was ever installed. Previously installed distributions were accidentally uninstalled.

Corrupted installation files or missing registry entries. Using older Windows builds (like Build 16215) where legacy tools like lxrun were required instead of the Microsoft Store. Without an installed distribution, you cannot run Linux commands, access the Linux shell, or use Linux-based applications within WSL.

How to Fix the Issue1. Install a Distribution via Microsoft StoreOpen the Microsoft Store. Search for a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu, Debian, or Kali Linux.
