Installation of Insert-Type Optical Cable Distribution Box

Installing an insert-type optical cable distribution box involves careful preparation, secure mounting, proper cable introduction, and organized fiber routing to ensure protection and accessibility.

Preparation Before Installation

Determine Installation Location: Choose a dry, ventilated, and anti-corrosion area. Indoor installations should have the bottom of the box 1. 2–2.

5 meters above the ground, while outdoor installations should be 2. 8–3. 2 meters above the ground.

Avoid unstable walls, decorative facades, or areas with potential water leakage or high-voltage cables overhead. Check Equipment and Tools: Ensure the distribution box, optical fiber interface board, and protective sleeves are complete and meet specifications. Prepare tools such as expansion bolts, levels, protective ground cables, optical fiber jumpers, cable hoses, and cable ties.

Mounting the Distribution Box

Install brackets on both sides of the box and secure them to the designated wall or rack position using screws. Confirm the installation direction according to design requirements. For multi-operator boxes, use the provided drill template to mark holes, open the box doors with the triangular key, and mount the box using the supplied fixing kit.

Introducing Optical Cables

Feed the optical cable through the designated inlet hole using a suitable grommet to secure it. Pre-terminated branch fiber jumpers or pigtails are commonly used. For riser or feeder cables, remove the rubber seal at the indicated point and insert the cable, then clamp the cover to secure it.

Routing and Securing Fibers

Ensure the fiber length inside the box allows the front panel to be fully pulled out without tension. Typically, a minimum of 31 inches is recommended between key points. Use cable ties to fix the optical cables at necessary positions, including movable ties for flexible management.

Avoid sharp bends, pulling over edges, or excessive pressure on the cable. Use smooth curves and figure-8 loops to prevent twisting or damage.

Final Checks

Verify that all fibers are properly routed, secured, and protected. Ensure adapters, splice trays, and protective sleeves are correctly installed. Confirm that the box is accessible for future maintenance and that all cables are labeled for identification.

By following these steps, the insert-type optical cable distribution box will be securely installed, with fibers protected and organized for high-density cabling environments such as data centers or FTTH networks.
