How to connect the tee joint in the vertical shaft cable tray

Use vertical tee fittings with TX brackets and riser links to securely connect the vertical shaft to horizontal branches.

Step-by-

Step Guide1. Select the Appropriate Tee Fitting Vertical tee fittings are designed to join cable trays in three directions, accommodating rail heights from 4" to 7" and widths from 6" to 36" with a 24" radius for smooth cable routing (Legrand specifications). Ensure the fitting matches the tray type (ladder, trough, or wire basket) and the load requirements.

2. Prepare the Tray Sections Mark and cut the side walls of the tray where the horizontal branch will connect. Bend down the side walls slightly to allow the TX bracket to attach securely.

Ensure the vertical riser and horizontal branch are aligned properly to maintain smooth cable transitions. 3.

Install T

X Brackets and Riser Links Attach TX brackets on both sides of the tray at the junction. Riser links must be installed in pairs, one on each side of the tray, to provide stability and support for the vertical run. The number of riser links depends on the tray size and load.

4. Secure the Connection Use nuts and bolts to fasten the TX brackets and riser links to the tray sections. Proper torque control is essential to prevent loosening due to vibration.

For some systems, quick-connect fittings may be used to reduce installation time, but ensure compatibility with the tray manufacturer. 5. Verify Alignment and Support Check that the vertical riser is plumb and the horizontal branch is level.

Secure the tray at multiple points along its length to prevent sagging or misalignment. Additional supports or clamps may be required according to NEMA VE2 guidelines for vertical installations. 6.

Cable Routing Considerations Ensure cables can sweep smoothly from the vertical riser into the horizontal branch without sharp bends. If using software like Revit, you may need to model the vertical tee with elbows to approximate the real-life connection. By following these steps, the vertical tee joint will be mechanically secure, properly aligned, and ready for safe cable installation.
