How to make cable tray sealing

Sealing a cable tray involves preparing the penetration, selecting the appropriate sealing system, installing modular components or plugs, and applying sealant to ensure fire, water, and gas tightness. Step 1: Prepare the PenetrationBefore sealing, inspect the cable tray and the wall or floor penetration. Ensure the opening is clean, free of debris, and sized correctly for the sealing system.

Remove any sharp edges or obstructions that could damage the seal or cables during installation. Step 2: Select the Appropriate Sealing SystemChoose a sealing solution based on the application: SLIPSIL Sealing Plugs: Ideal for single or multiple cables, fire-safe, gas, and watertight, with self-compression design. RISE® System: Uses expanding rubber insert sleeves and FIWA® sealant for multi-cable protection.

NOFIRNO or DYNATIT

E Systems: For harsh environments or high-pressure tightness requirements. Step 3: Install Modular Components or PlugsFor modular systems like FIRSTO, assemble the frame around the cable run and position it against the wall or floor.

For SLIPSI

L plugs, select the plug size matching the cable diameter and insert it into the penetration sleeve. Ensure all cables are properly aligned and spaced to avoid compression damage. Step 4: Apply SealantApply the recommended sealant (e.g., FIWA®) around the cables and between modular components to achieve a fire, water, and gas-tight seal.

Ensure the sealant fills all gaps and voids without leaving air pockets. Step 5: Secure and InspectTighten or secure any frames or plugs according to the manufacturer's instructions. Inspect the installation to confirm mechanical stability, tightness, and compliance with fire safety standards.

Document the installation for QA/QC purposes and future maintenance. Step 6: Allow for Future AccessModular systems like FIRSTO allow easy addition or removal of cables without dismantling the entire seal. Ensure that any future cable additions maintain the integrity of the seal.

By following these steps, cable tray penetrations can be effectively sealed to meet fire, water, and gas protection requirements, while allowing flexibility for maintenance and future cable installations.
